Unram’s Proactive Steps: WISH 3.0 Roadshow Increases Scholarship Access for Students
Mataram, University of Mataram – The Rector of University of Mataram (Unram) attended the World Indonesia Scholarship (WISH) 3.0 Roadshow in Mataram City at the M. Yusuf Abubakar Auditorium Building, Unram, on Saturday (11/25). WISH is the first largest scholarship event in Indonesia, which brings together scholarship hunters, awardees, communities or organizations, scholarship provider institutions to the government that are concerned in the field of scholarships and education.
Unram Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D said that one of the efforts for students to get scholarship and further study opportunities is by implementing a program in each Unram unit, namely Self-Access Language Learning (SALL) at no cost. SALL is a program established to improve the English language skills of students and lecturers.
“This is the precursor for students to be able to get scholarships. We work with scholarship management institutions to connect students to other places for further studies,” he said.
Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo hopes that in the future the quality of human resources of Unram students and the people of NTB will continue to rise, so that the opportunity for students to get scholarships and further studies will be higher. Unram has also implemented a TOEFL score requirement of 400 for undergraduate students, 450 for postgraduate students, and 500 for doctoral students as a graduation requirement.
In addition, the Acting Governor of NTB, Drs. H. Lalu Gita Aryadi, M.Si said that this activity if compared to 40 years ago when I wanted to enter college was a special activity, because I had not finished secondary education and could already get information related to scholarships.
“Through this opportunity and the privilege of education, let the younger generations be able to utilize and prepare themselves as well as possible. We from the government, in accordance with our duties and responsibilities, prepare these facilities,” he said.
