Mataram, University of Mataram – The Sociology Study Program of the Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences (FHISIP Unram) held a field assessment on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the FHISIP Auditorium.

The field assessment was conducted by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and involved two assessors: Prof. Dr. Siti Nurbayani K., M.Si. from the Indonesia University of Education, and Dr. Awaluddin Hamzah, S.P., M.Si. from Halu Oleo University.

During the assessment, the Rector of the University of Mataram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., presented an overview of Unram to the assessors. He also outlined the university’s four key strategic programs: accelerating superior accreditation, improving Key Performance Indicator (IKU) achievements, transitioning to Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) status, and strengthening its path toward becoming a World Class University.

“Unram’s institutional accreditation is currently rated as Superior, and three of our study programs have earned international accreditation from ASIIN. Moving forward, we aim for more programs to achieve the same,” he stated. He further noted that Unram currently ranks third nationwide in IKU performance among public universities with BLU status.

In terms of governance, Unram has developed 58 digital systems to support efficient campus administration. The university has also achieved a 99 percent budget absorption rate, placing Unram as the second-best performing BLU (Public Service Agency) university in terms of budget management. Additionally, Unram’s performance accountability rating has improved significantly, rising from CC to A.

Regarding the Sociology Study Program, the Rector noted that the program is in high demand and has demonstrated a strong accreditation process under FHISIP. He expressed hope that the assessment would serve as an opportunity for continuous improvement and quality enhancement.

“We sincerely welcome guidance and recommendations from the assessors, which will serve as valuable input for our ongoing development,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Siti Nurbayani K., M.Si., one of the BAN-PT assessors, explained that the field assessment is part of a continuous process aimed at improving the quality of higher education.

“We are not here to judge, but to serve as discussion partners in the process of improvement toward higher quality,” she remarked.

She also noted that BAN-PT continues to assess study programs that are not yet under the oversight of an Independent Accreditation Agency (LAM).
“We hope this discussion becomes an open space to explore important aspects for quality enhancement,” she added.
