Mataram – Universitas Mataram Library UPT (Unram) held an E-Journal Proquest Access Training activity for the Academic Community of Universitas Mataram (Unram) through the Zoom Meeting application on Wednesday (24/08).

The activity was officially opened by the Chancellor of the University of Mataram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr, St., Ph.D. In his remarks he said that after decades of waiting for Unram to finally subscribe to Proquest which includes a reputable international journal, “and of course this will solve our thirst for quality reading materials and can solve the problems we have been facing,” he said.

The benefits that can be felt by subscribing to ProQuest are that researchers, students, lecturers, and all Unram staff can access the database. Not only that, Prof. Bambang explained that this was an opportunity for a new policy. “Later on, proposals for undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees must quote a certain number of articles published in the last 5 or 10 years,” said the Unram Chancellor. Researchers, especially those using BNPB funds, will also be given the same policy in this regard. So in this case Prof. Bambang hopes that every research made refers to the latest information and produces research that has many updates.

The activity was followed by training on access to the ProQuest e-journal by Dwi Janto Suandaru who was directly connected from Yogyakarta. He explained how to access and the advantages of ProQuest that can make it easier for researchers. For example, if there is a foreign language journal, it can be translated directly into Indonesian without fear of the translation being wrong. “Ladies and gentlemen, don’t doubt the results of the translation, because the results of this translation have been directly checked by 5 Indonesian language experts,” explained Pak Dwi.

Also present in this activity were the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, all faculty deans, Director of the Postgraduate Program, Head of Institutions and UPT, Director of Vocational Studies, Head of Study Programs under the Chancellor, lecturers and researchers, as well as student representatives.
