Workshop and Sharing Session: Study in the USA Successfully Held at Unram

Mataram, University of Mataram – The Workshop and Sharing Session entitled “Study in the USA” organized by UPA BKPK of the University of Mataram (Unram) is a valuable moment for students and alumni who dream of continuing their studies in the United States. The event, which took place in the Unram Senate Conference Room on January 17, 2025, presented experienced speakers who shared insights and inspiring stories about their academic journey in Uncle Sam’s country.

 

The event opened with remarks from the Head of UPA BKPK, apt. Yoga Dwi Saputra, S.Farm., M.Pharm.Sci., who expressed his appreciation to the speakers and participants. “We at UPA BKPK are always committed to supporting the University of Mataram students and alumni in achieving their dreams. This workshop is part of our efforts to open up insights and provide information about study abroad opportunities, especially in the United States,” he said.

 

Vice Rector III, Dr. Sujita, S.T., M.T., also gave a speech and officially opened the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of having a global vision in education. “ The University of Mataram strongly supports initiatives that broaden students’ horizons. We believe, with the right support, Unram students can compete in the international arena and bring Indonesia’s good name in the world of global education,” said Dr. Sujita.

 

Ambarizky Trinugraheni, an experienced EducationUSA Adviser, explained the various study opportunities in the United States. “America is a destination that offers an unparalleled academic experience. From global professional networks to cutting-edge research, studying in America is not just about a degree, but also about expanding horizons and building a future,” she said.

 

Ambarizky also emphasized the importance of thorough preparation in the application process, from selecting universities to submitting important documents such as essays and letters of recommendation. “EducationUSA is ready to assist you every step of the way towards your dream of studying in America,” she added.

 

The most anticipated session was the inspiring story of Boniesta Zulandha Melani, M.A., Ph.D., a Fulbright Scholarship alumni at the University of Central Florida. In her presentation, Boniesta shared personal experiences about the challenges and opportunities during her doctoral studies in America.

 

“When I first arrived in America, the cultural and academic differences were a big challenge. However, underneath it all, there were lots of valuable lessons that shaped me into a stronger person ready to compete internationally,” said Boniesta.

 

She also shared tips on how to succeed in winning prestigious scholarships like Fulbright and how to take advantage of every opportunity, from being a teaching assistant to attending international conferences. “Don’t be afraid to dream big and take the first step. The world is full of opportunities, and America is a great place to pursue your dreams,” Boniesta concluded.

 

Hosted by Ramaditia Dwiyansaputra, S.T., M.Eng., the event was dynamic with an interactive Q&A session. Participants enthusiastically asked various questions about the application process, student life in America, and tips for facing cultural challenges.

 

This workshop not only provided information, but also aroused the enthusiasm and motivation of participants to achieve their dreams of studying abroad. “We hope this event will be the beginning of your journey to America and open more opportunities in the future,” said the Head of UPA BKPK in his speech.

 

With renewed spirit, participants returned home with hope and a steadier pace to pursue studies in the United States, making this workshop the first step towards their academic and professional success.
