Unram Senate Determines Ballot Numbers for Three Rector Candidates

Mataram, University of Mataram — The Senate of the University of Mataram (Unram) convened a Special Meeting to conduct the assignment and official designation of ballot numbers for Rector Candidates for the 2026–2030 leadership period at the Senate Conference Room, on Monday, 29 December.
In the assignment of ballot numbers, Prof. Dr. Sukardi, S.Pd., M.Pd. was designated Ballot Number 1, Prof. Dr. Kurniawan, S.H., M.Hum. was assigned Ballot Number 2, and Prof. Muhamad Ali, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D. received Ballot Number 3.
Based on the results of the Unram Senate vote held on 18 December, Prof. Dr. Sukardi, S.Pd., M.Pd. secured 34 votes, followed by Prof. Muhamad Ali, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D. with 16 votes, and Prof. Dr. Kurniawan, S.H., M.Hum. with six votes. Meanwhile, Prof. Dedy Suhendra, M.Si., Ph.D. received one vote, and Prof. Yusron Saadi, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. obtained two votes.
Accordingly, the three candidates with the highest number of votes were officially designated as Unram rector candidates and are entitled to proceed to the next stage of the selection process.
The process of assigning and officially determining ballot numbers constitutes an integral stage of the rector election at state universities, upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance.
The Secretary of the Unram Senate and Advisor to the Unram Rector Election Committee, Dr. Muhaimin, S.H., M.Hum., stated that the entire screening process proceeded safely, smoothly, and in an orderly manner, in full compliance with applicable regulations.
He further explained that the election of the Unram Rector will be conducted through a closed Senate meeting together with the Minister or an officially appointed representative, scheduled to take place between 2 and 9 January 2026.
In line with the regulations governing rector elections at state universities, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia holds 35 percent of the voting rights, while the Unram Senate holds the remaining 65 percent. Dr. Muhaimin emphasized that all three candidates have equal opportunities to be elected.
“Each candidate has the same rights and opportunities. The final decision lies with the Minister, after careful consideration of each candidate’s vision, mission, work programs, and professional track record,” he concluded.
